چکیده
The last 30 years has seen the emergence of a self-styled ‘evolutionary’ paradigm within psychology (henceforth, EP). EP is often presented and critiqued as distinctive, contentious paradigm, to be contrasted with other accounts human psychology. However, little attention been paid sense in which those are not also evolutionary. We outline core commitments canonical EP. These are, from least distinctive most: mechanism, interactionism, functionalism, adaptationism, functional specialization. argue that minimal requirement for an approach qualify evolutionary important functionalism. This because notion design organismal structures presupposes history evolution by natural selection. On this criterion, we argue, most, perhaps all qualifies evolutionary, either implicitly or explicitly. review several approaches typically EP, showing these too our criteria. suggest EP/non-EP dichotomy retired. though psychologists do always need foreground their research, just true biologists. At same time, more space does mean any less environment, context, culture, meaning agency.

Therefore, while behavior such as fear and anxiety are useful to prevent harm, the exaggerated form, that is, anxiety disorders, has more costs than benefits. Likewise, while a panic attack is a normal and useful response in the face of life-threatening danger, a panic disorde...

Ellis presents a valuable new perspective that proposes that physiological mechanisms shaped by evolutionary forces can provide insights into the causes of crime and sex differences in the patterns of crime. We discuss other theories and research relevant to Ellis’s th...
